3D Flower Wire Sculpture

Above this post is a photo of a wire sculpture that I made in my Sculpture and Installation art class. The class is an art class where you learn how to create and make art pieces out of anything that you want to create a sculpture. Sculptures can range from wire sculptures (as I did) to paper matcha to clay sculptures. The varieties of art that you can make are endless and almost anything that you create can be a sculpture. The theme that was assigned to the class was “nature”, which led to my idea of making wire flowers. My sculpture is made out of multiple different colors of wire that was made to be a multiple level 3D flower. The flowers get smaller as they go up and you can hold it with your fingers. I decided to use all different colors of wire for the levels of my flowers and decided to use darker tones for my flower to add a more solemn look. I then added a little rose bud at the top of the flower with tiny blue beads to match the blue wire. The process I went through was a bit difficult because at first I was going to make a wire tree but I ended up switching ideas half way through. After I decided on doing a multiple layer flower, the process was very easy and went smoothly. Something that I enjoyed most about this project was making the little rose bud on top of my flower because it was very fun to add the little beads to make it stand out more. I also enjoyed the free range of this project while still keeping it under the theme which was “nature”. In the end this project was very fun because I liked seeing the finished results of the sculptures. – Madison Weinrich
